Endnote Speaker - Ingrid Hurwitz

The Knowing Heart

    About Workshop

This session will be about ways of imagining and describing the heart in different mystical traditions, both in terms of its true nature and its role in the human psycho spiritual journey. I will specially discuss the heart as the true place of enlightenment, as an organ of discernment, and as the threshold between the spiritual dimension and the manifest world, drawing on the Kabbalah, Christian mysticism, Islam and Zen Buddhism. I will also connect these psycho spiritual insights with contemporary social neurobiological research.

    About Speaker

Ingrid Hurwitz is the Director of Takdir Transformation (Pty.Ltd), an organization dedicated to people’s psychospiritual development through Enneagram self-discovery.

These teachings are made very practical in everyday life as a result of her professional background in corporate Leadership development and Transformational Learning as well as her many years of coaching, counselling and process facilitation.

Her postgraduate studies were in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Her own teaching is strongly influenced by mysticism, but also draws heavily on cognitive science evidence for the benefits of self-observation, introspection and explicit metacognition in developing EQ, self-efficacy and holistic wellness – (how she frames “The Cultivation of the Inner Observer”, which is her PhD thesis topic) - She teaches the Enneagram widely and has presented at a number of international Enneagram conferences.

Her special interests include ongoing learning about Cognitive Science; Philosophy (specifically phenomenology and practical wisdom), and Pedagogy. Her ongoing professional development is in various psychological healing modalities such as NARM Trauma work (The Neuroaffective Relational Model) and Hypnotherapy. Being in nature and dancing are her personal medicine.
